STARS AND STRIPES

It's not very often I get stars in my eyes. But can you blame me when I saw this button down shirt? Now it's unusual for me to be so drawn to an Americana piece. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for patriotic clothing, only I live in Australia and our national flag seems to just find its way onto bikinis. And to wear any other country's flag, well that's 'un-Australian'. Luckily the subtleness of the stars and stripes, and the rough vintage effect helps me fly under the radar. I think it's far more 'tres cool' than treason. Oh and did I mention how soft and warm it is. Look out winter.

And welcome, to my newest addition of Jeffrey Campbell shoes. (I'm counting 3 pairs as a collection. At least it's a start.) I've shared my love and admiration for the first 2 pairs here, and this time isn't going to be any different. If you want a pair of platform heels that are so comfortable and give you height without having that awful chunky hoof look (yeah, you know what I'm talking about) Jeffrey is your man, well, shoe. They really are the perfect platform heel.

SPACE ODDITY

Oh no. She's wearing the same shorts as her last post. And the same shoes. Well, I'm a real person and I re-wear clothes. Sometimes even twice in one week. Shock. Horror. But I guess there's a lesson to be learned here. It's the top that makes the outfit. I've always believed that and now here's some proof. Last time I wore a sheer, button up blouse, which made for a more chic, smarter look. This time, it's a lot more 'casual cool' and laid back. Ergo, change the top, change the vibe.

Now I know this top and background has a lot going on. It's somewhat overwhelming. But I happen to love visual chaos. In fact, chaos of any kind. 'Boring' for me is the ultimate sin. I think that's why I'm drawn to graffiti so much. It makes any city interesting and creates it's unique charm. Anything galactic too is a source of wonder and intrigue for me. It's a never ending supply of mystery and discovery. If you embrace the little oddities, like local street art or a shooting star, life will seldom be boring.

ABOUT TO FALL

Summer is almost over. It's about to Fall. Well, seeing as I'm Australian, it's about to Autumn. And while I'm not one to let the season dictate how I feel (I never understood those people who said they were a 'Winter' or 'Spring' person), I can't help but notice a little sadness for the passing of Summer this year.

Maybe it's the knowledge that soon my collection of peculiar shorts will have to retire for hibernation in my wardrobe. Or that soon I'll have to wear more than a bra under my sheer blouses. Oh the First World problems...I might have to jump from where I stand. From the outside of a building. A whole 50cm fall.

Woah! Rare sighting. I'm wearing my hair out. The first time on my blog. I've never been good at hair. What do you guys think?

Tumbling XVIII

It's been a little while since we've been for a tumble. With my big summer holidays coming close to an end, I'm feeling inspired by a sense of freedom. Free spirits, carelessness, living in the moment and loving every second of it. Whatever you want to call it. I love those moments. You know what I'm talking about. Ones like these...

COIN LAUNDRY

No doubt the laundromat isn't anyones first preference for an outfit photo shoot. Nor are you a welcomed preference for the people actually using the space for the intended purpose. (Sorry laundry-goers.) But when it's raining outside you have to get creative. Luckily the print on my dress has a 1970s tile pattern feel about it, reminiscent of laundromats of yesteryear. So I guess the location isn't too much of a stretch...

But if it is let me simple it down even further. I am wearing clothes. Clothes need to be washed after they are worn (sometimes once but if you're lucky or lazy wear leave them a few more wears). You can do such washing, drying and folding at a laundromat. There. Location justified. Now onto exciting news. Remember a while ago when I posted here about my freakish obsession with cut out boots? No. Well you can stop worrying about the shoe sized hole in my hear because I got my very own pair! Check 'em.

TWIST OF LIME

I've been steering away from dresses recently. And it's only now, when the right one comes along, I begin to wonder 'why for, dresses are amazing'. I think my caution to dresses has been one of practicality. But now that I sit here, typing this, I realise there's nothing a dress would stop me from doing providing I have my modesty bike shorts underneath (which I always do).

I guess what's really stopped me from wearing dresses is a matter of perception. Are they really that stereotypically 'girly'? Do they really make you look 'overdressed' (is that even a thing?) ? Will they really stop you from doing anything in your day to day life? With the exception of handstands, I think the overwhelming answer is no. Of course ultimately it does come down to what particular dress you choose. This one combats 'girly' with scuba feel material, has a casual style with simple piping detail, and is of a modest length. I think it's safe to say this dress has defeated my irrational fear. Bring on more dresses.

Purrfect Display

I believe clothes should be on display. Whether on your body or in your room. While I'm sure doors were added to wardrobes to allow a shambled mess reign silently behind their protection, unfortunately this means your most beautiful pieces are locked in a tower (metaphorically) going unappreciated and unloved.

My room has hooks sparsely placed around to hang necklaces and certain 'wow' items of clothing. Who'da thunk it? Your wardrobe can double as wall art. But recently I feel like the clothes on display are looking a bit lifeless. After all, clothes are made to be worn. And that's when I found these... Animal Hangers! (Don't they just look dapper?) Sure to bring life and character back to any outfit. Check out the full range here. You know you want to.
My word of advice: Just don't try and have a 'who wore it better' competition. The cat will win hands down.
