AREA FIFTY ONE

Whenever I wear this crop top I feel extraterrestrial (Thanks Katy Perry). Silver, spaceman, they are just two inseparable concepts in my mind. And just looking over these photos I realise how deserted and spooky this location is (shifty eyes on the window anyone?). This is somewhat how I imagine Area 51 to be... though probably without the love hearts and the 'lol'.

COVER OF DARKNESS

Darkness seems to be a running theme of late. I would apologise. But when it makes for photos like these, why should I. Rocking a batwing blouse in a dingy underpass, there was definitely a moment or two where I felt very 'Bat Girl'. Like this was my cave and it was my mission to go out there are fight crime under the cover of darkness. But only once I'd taken a few photos of my outfit of course.

CHECK MATE

Monochrome take two. (Check out my first attempt here.) This one is a bit more board games, or racing cars- whichever way you want to look at it. I thought that a simple, black and white, shift dress would slip seamlessly into society and everyday wear. Apparently I was wrong. It would seem black and white can be just as loud and attention seeking as blue hair. But I don't mind. I've never been one to shy away from being a spectacle, or a chess board, as the case may be.

OPPOSITES COLLIDE

I am a paradox. I love 'girly' clothes. Lace. Crochet. Anything dainty and stereotypically feminine. I want need it. Only the thing is I can not leave the house feeling like I look girly (well, maybe a little is alright). This probably due to my equal love of anything grungy, dark, and leather. They are my two great fashion loves. Which happen to be polar opposites. And when they collide, it ends up looking a little something like this...

REASONABLE MIND

There is no such thing as too many floral shorts. Well, at least that's what I tell myself, seeing I now have more than any reasonable mind could justify. They've become a wardrobe essential, right next to the denim shorts and the skater skirt. Not a week goes by without me wearing floral shorts (providing it's not the dead of winter... though maybe even then too).

The humble floral short has a quality I wish more popular high street styles possessed. Versatility. You can wear them with a crop top and a pair of docs to a festival. Or throw them on over your bikini for your walk to the beach. Or pop on a long sleeve button up and parade around sandstone buildings making sure you look like you're thinking about something really deep while somebody takes photos of you. With floral shorts you can wear and do whatever really...

BREAK FREE

It's hard to make black and white stripes look like anything other than criminal. But here's hoping a touch of lace and few delicate accessories has this outfit looking more 'in-style' than 'in-mate'. And in case you cannot tell by the very absence of colour, this is (one of, there will be more) my take on the monochrome trend.

I usually steer clear of whole-hearted commitment when it comes to trends. I much prefer a fling. One or two items that belong to a trend, though mix just as well with my items from trends of yesteryear. But with monochrome, I feel like things are different. I really want to commit to one outfit- absolutely no colour (this one has a little pop of blue). I think it's time to break free from my wavering, 'anything goes' style past by fully devoting myself to the constraints of monochrome. How's that for an oxymoron.

DEEP PURPLE

Somedays everything is just too much effort. Especially getting dressed in the morning. There's just too many options (first world problems). Will it be comfortable? Will it be practical? Will it be cool (as in 'awesome cool')? Ahhhhhhhh. Just so much to consider. Luckily, Asos has answered my prayers of laziness and come up with this baby.

Dress. Comfortable. Mid-thigh length. Practical. Jersey material and smock style. Comfortable and practical. Deep purple and navy tie-dye. Awesome cool. It checks all the boxes. Now getting ready, even in state of hazy, delirious, tired-fueled laziness, is easy.

DARK SHADOWS

Sometimes there's nothing to say. And the only thing to do is to retreat into an alleyway to find solace with dark shadows.
